Mission Statement
The Newman House, the Catholic Campus Ministry for Murray State University, is a community dedicated to creating a welcoming atmosphere, serving the Lord and others, and providing opportunities for spiritual growth and education. Empowered by the Holy Spirit, we strive to serve the larger community through the belief that faith is lived in action.
About Us
Awarded as the Most Improved Student Organization of 2006-2007, the Murray State University Newman House is the Catholic Campus Ministry for MSU students. The Newman House kicks off their year by inviting back students and welcoming freshmen at their annual Catholic Rush Week. The Rush is during the first two weeks of school, and includes two weeks of activities that introduces the freshmen to the Catholic Campus Ministry while ending with a day at Ken Lake. The Newman House also organizes an off campus retreat, as well as an on campus Busy Person's retreat both during the fall and spring semesters. Each Sunday and Wednesday the Murray State Newman House provides a meal for the students before mass. With a weekly bible study on Mondays and a movie night on Thursdays the Murray State Newman Center, in connection with St. Leo's Parish, provides college students the opportunity to learn more about their Catholic faith while establishing a relationship with God, colleagues, and the Murray Community.
